It's all about attitudes
I just can't understand when God made us to live together or work together, why he made one hot natured and one cold natured. I'm telling you, this can get down right dangerous! In other words, it can lead to a "heated" conversation" and end up "cold" attitudes.
Collin, my husband, swears I'm trying to freeze him, but all I want is to be comfortable. I think he is trying to burn me up, and all he wants is to also be comfortable. Once in a blue moon, we are hot or cold at the same time. Woo-hoo!
Then I go to the office. Mary and Dorothy are freezing and I am burning up. Doesn't matter - winter, summer, spring or fall, these ladies will use their heaters and I, along with the air conditioner, will have fans going.
When my mother was entering the hot flash time of her life, she says I nearly burned her up with lights and the furnace. When I reached that point in my life, I called her one day and asked her how long these things would last. Her retort to me was, "Well, for you, I hope forever!"
Can you imagine my mom saying this to me? I really believe she prayed for me to be forever hot because I see no signs of it letting up.
I sorta got even with her when she was spending a weekend with us recently. As usual, she was cold and letting it be known in no uncertain terms. Actually, she was recuperating from knee surgery and couldn't get around very well. I put her in bed and turned the bedwarmer on high, but I put the air conditioner on low. She was in my territory now. But, there was Collin saying he was freezing, so up goes the air conditiioner. Out numbered again.
Back in the old days, Mom and I were in agreement that if you're cold, you can put on more clothing. But if you're hot, there's not a darn thing you can do about it. I still maintain that argument, but Mom has deserted me. What happened Mom? Where's those extra articles of clothing you used to say people should be wearing? I do admit Mary will layer her clothing to help me and Dorothy moves her heater closer to her.
Thanks girls.
Have you ever noticed that most people are more jolly in the winter?
They come inside shaking their boots or coats, and most of them are laughing and many times asking, "Where's the hot chocolate or coffee?" Watch them in the heat of summer. They are hot and sweaty and dragging, saying "Oh man, this heat! When is it ever going to cool down?" You can almost bet if there is a chair nearby that is where they are going to land. To me, winter energizes and summer drains.
I must admit that last winter I had to eat my words, for there were one or two days when I actually got cold. I'm sure in the future my main diet of words will be, "Geez, I'm freezing my tush off! Turn up the heat!"
Oh well, my philosophy has always been "This, too, shall pass."
But in this case, I just don't know.
Keep your e-mails coming. Remember they are a source of encouragement to me. (kdover28@gmail.com)
